Paper cutting at its finest

The more I experiment with the art of paper cutting, the more I am exposed to some amazing artists whose skill and mastery simply amazes me. I can only hope that, with enough practice, I can have that same control over my paper.

Truly inspiring.

What's in a name?

I’ve been toying with the idea of using a different name for my blog/etsy store/general business identity.

Here’s the problem as I see it:
I make paper portraits (hence the current name) but that’s not the ONLY thing I do!  I’ll be coming out with a few series that are not portraits soon, and because of that I wonder if I shouldn’t have a more all-inclusive name.

I don’t want to confine myself to only doing portraits, and having “portraits” in the title might do just that!

I have a few names I’ve been playing around with but nothing has really stuck out yet, nothing has that WOW that I need.  So I come to you for suggestions!

Anyone have an idea for a fun creative name I could use for my personal brand? Think blog, etsy store, and perhaps one day, a business! The more creative, the better!

Studio tours

One of my favorite features on design blogs is the studio tour.  As someone who lives in a small brooklyn apartment, my desk nearly on top of my bed, I love seeing images of clean, beautiful, bright, open studio spaces.  I’m sure that one day I’ll be able to carve out space for my own little corner of the world, but in the meantime I’ll just gaze at these…

More classic illustrations

Tonight, while watching SNL, I started flipping through my small collection of classic children’s literature.  I’m compiling a series of illustrations to replicate, and I’m really really excited to start on them!  I’ve posted some of my inspiration before but here are a few more.

I guess I should be glad I haven’t had the time to work on these yet because I’ve been working on quite a few new commissioned pieces!
